If we are rude to ourselves, we will likely treat others the same.
Consider the moments you held yourself to high standards; if not careful, you may hold others to the same standards. The issue is not holding yourself to high standards; the problem lies in minimizing yourself and only seeing your shortcomings instead of celebrating the small wins. And if we only see our shortcomings, it will be easy to spot the flaws of those around us.
We are told to love our neighbors as we love ourselves, but what if we don't love ourselves? We are also told that we should not have a higher concept of ourselves than necessary. On the other hand, we should also not have too low of an image of ourselves which would stop us from visualizing the greatness that lies in us.
When we cannot see the greatness that lies in us, it’s easy to be blind to the greatness of those around us. For this reason, significant transformations start from within and then materialize. The metamorphosis must begin from within, then our actions will follow. The way to spot greatness is to start to acknowledge your own. For this reason, it doesn’t matter if you take a person with a poor man’s mindset and sit them around billionaires; they will continue being poor. And if you take a person with an abundance mindset and surround them with poor individuals, they will find a way out - mindset.
If your mindset is toxic, then toxicity will follow. Therefore, we must begin to address the voices we hear, the people we lend our ears too and the mindset we have. If we lend our ears to people who have a poor man’s mindset and find difficulty in seeing our greatness, it will be like trying to travel on a dark foggy night.
